1: DARGLOW FEATHERING PROPELLORS REALLY ENHANCE SAILING PERFORMANCE
With two of Darglow's clever Feather Stream propellors in "stealth mode":

-
Glengour under sail makes better speed through the water and is very responsive.

-
In light airs, despite her 12 tons and long keel, she feels nimble and tacks easily through the wind.

-
In a good breeze Glengour heels less, points higher and romps on like she's absolutely loving it.
Red rosettes seen against the white hull - the FIXED props had bucket-loads of drag!
CHANGING TWO FEATHERING PROPELLORS DOUBLES THE GAIN FOR AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS !
Designer McBRYDE would have loved these propellors too. Under sail they unlock the full potential of his clean underwater profile, so "thoughtfully" designed, as Uffa Fox put it, to maximise hull speed and minimise drag. Check out the lovely rudder, cast in bronze for a slim profile - no gap or hole in the sternpost or the rudder to cause turbulence. With the new props feathered it's the best clean exit - slippery as you like!
2: NEW MAINSAIL and 2 STACKPACKS in 2022 and NEW JIB in 2024, all from OWEN SAILS are a BIG IMPROVEMENT
New sails from the Benderloch Loft by Oban set superbly and look good driving Glengour through the water better than ever.
Both mainsail and furling jib hold great shape in light airs and ooze reassurance when the wind picks up.
Stackpacks for the main and mizzen make stowing sails almost a dawdle.

4: WHAT DO YOU GIVE a "GRAND OLD LADY" for a 90TH BIRTHDAY?
....Maybe something SCARLET to wear...
Contact had been made with National Historic Ships UK who stand as "THE OFFICIAL VOICE FOR HISTORIC VESSELS IN THE UK". They certified that under their Entry No. 3827:

"Glengour has been identified as meriting inclusion on the National Register of Historic Vessels"
So for her 90th birthday Glengour was treated to the Official Defaced Ensign, only worn by those on the Register of Historic Vessels in the UK. A Warrant to Fly came by Command of the Secretary of State for Defence, Whitehall, London.

A grand way to round off 90 years.
